Kitchen on Prescription
Cooking with confidence; cooking for health; cooking for fun.
Our comfortable kitchen is a place where people of all ages learn how to prepare and enjoy healthy food.
- Learn to cook for those with health conditions such as diabetes and heart disease
- Cook fresh, healthy food on a budget
- Improve mental and physical wellbeing through cooking
We teach people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds how to cook food that will help them in their everyday lives -such as cooking for family members with health conditions; nutritional recipes for parents or advice and recipes for low-income families. We also work closely with local Children's Centres to offer courses on weaning and healthy eating for under 5's.
If you would like to hire our Learning Kitchen (for groups of 9 or less), or are interested in Wellspring delivering cooking courses for specific groups then please do get in touch.

What we offer ...
Kitchen on Prescription
Kitchen on Prescription is about eating for a healthy heart and to help manage a medical condition. It is aimed at those looking to change their diet due to health conditions which include: Hypertension, Cardiovascular Disease and Diabetes.
With advice on what to shop for, how to cook and portion sizes you will not only learn what you SHOULDN'T eat but also what you CAN eat! Our Food and Health Development Worker - Bearnie - will take you through the joys of adapting your diet, showing how the things cut from your diet can be replaced with something equally as enjoyable and delicious.
All ingredients are supplied and you get a recipe and a meal to take home at the end of each session. There's no need to bring any of your own equipment.
Delivered in a relaxed and friendly way, the course is held in groups of 8 or less at the Wellspring Learning Kitchen. Referral from your GP, healthcare professional or member of the Wellspring Healthy Living team is required.
Kitchen on Prescription courses run over a six week duration, each session lasts 2 hours. Check our timetable for the next course dates.
